Whilst staying in Ubud, a friend and I took the short drive to Warung Pesantian based on a recommendation. We were not disappointed! The food was exceptional – the best in Bali by far! Ingredients are locally sourced and lovingly prepared by Chef and owner, Sandika, who was keen share his recipes and cooking methods. I had the slow cooked pork ribs which melted off the bone, topped with a sweet and spicy sauce. My friend had the grilled local freshwater fish which was also cooked to perfection. Flavours were beautifully balanced with traditional Balinese salads. The location is beautiful, set amongst the rice paddies and it’s a great place to stop for lunch on the way to tourist attractions in Tampaksiring.

We did a cooking class here on our last morning in Ubud and have to rate this B and B and restaurant very highly – Santika and his team have a beautifully located establishment on a small creek with gorgeous rooms and a cooking school where you will learn to cook like the very best .. truly great time spent with an amazing teacher

What a perfect taste and a brilliant view! The menu is only a page, but don’t worry, just ask the chef Santika whats in the cooking pot today. In Europe I eat a lot in high end restaurants – but this is worth a 15 min taxi ride from ubud!
Chef cooking!
The food here was outstanding and by far the best we had while in Bali. After hectic and congested Ubud it was such a pleasure to be in this tranquil setting in a village where everyone was friendly and the setting was peaceful. We were staying nearby and walked over seeing rice, cassava, cacao, papaya, salak, banana, etc.). Definitely worth the drive ( which is beautiful and interesting once you clear the Ubud traffic jam). The green mango salad was delicious as were the pork ribs.
Best food we ate in our 2 week Bali stay
